Our main focus at The Wine Cask is to deliver value. We believe that value in wine is not defined by the lowest price; rather it’s where quality and reasonable price coincide.

We were one of the first stores to publish a monthly newsletter that included great-value ‘Wines of the Month,’ and we still do it. During the forty years we have been serving our customers in Somerville and Cambridge the wine world has grown immensely, and we have grown with it. The diversity of wine is its greatest virtue and we seek it all over the world.

We travel the world visiting wine regions and attending trade shows whenever possible. We have attended the annual Loire Valley trade show in Angers, Vin Expo in Bordeaux, and Vini Sud in Montpelier multiple times. We annually attend Vin Italy. We have traversed Spain numerous times. In addition, staff members have visited Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, South Africa, Australia, Germany, Austria, and Hungary. These experiences have taught us a great deal about wine and food and how they can best be matched.

Our store has around two thousand different wines to choose from, and almost all of them have been tasted by a staff member. If you don’t see what you’re looking for we are more than happy to special order a single bottle for you.
